The Dean Clan Once settled, it was time to share his life and have a family. He married ELIZABETH SAVORY in the Spring of 1844. Their home was blessed with three sons, Henry, William and Edward. The years past
quickly, their son Edward had heard of Lowell, Ma. and the great textile
mills of the town. He thought this would be the place for him to become
established. Edward made his way to Lowell with the only trade he knew, that of a blacksmith. The blacksmiths in these day's were no mere shoer of horses but talented makers of tools and ironworks. He lived on Austin St., employed as a blacksmith on Fletcher St. As the months passed, he met ANNIE BARRY, a devoted Catholic. To the dismay of his family, he converted, they were married on Nov. 8, 1881 and moved to Suffolk Street. Over the next ten years they had four children, the daily conversation was to buy a home in a more peaceful part of town. In 1893 it became a reality, moving houses at that time was a common practice. On this particular day, two houses were being moved from the area where the Pollard Library is located, on Merrimack St. An idea came to Annie's mind while she was passing by. She went over to the wagon, climbed upon it and asked the driver who the owner was and where the houses were being moved to. Within a few hours, ANNIE and EDWARD F. DEAN purchased and started to move in to their new home at 75 Fourth Ave. where it still stands today. They were considered part of the founding pioneers of Pawtucketville and the newly formed parish of St. Columba. Annie was one of the first women of the St. Rita's Holy Rosary Sodality. They were to live out the rest of their lives in this home. The children stayed in Pawtucketville. DANIEL married BEATRICE YATES, in 1919 and lived on West Meadow Road. CATHERINE was married to MICHAEL LARKIN, in 1921 and remained living at 75 Fourth Ave. with Annie. HENRY married ORA RIVERS, they bought land and built a home on Totman Road in 1926. EDWARD was married to BLANCHE BRUNELLE< purchasing their home on West Meadow Road in 1925. The DEAN name and family is still part of the Pawtucketville area, along the surrounding towns and the bordering states. Some of the decendents of the DEAN Clan, which originated so long ago from the far away shores of Ireland, continue to attend St. Rita's Parish. Taken from
the St. Rita's Parish Memorial Book.
